The Celestial River Saryu in Hindu Tradition

The sacred River Saryu, originating from Lake Mansarovar in the Himalayas, is intimately entwined with Lord Rama’s life. Flowing gracefully along the northern flank of Ayodhya, the Saryu is believed to wash away the karmic impurities of all who bathe with devotion in her waters.

The Grand Evening Maha Aarti at Naya Ghat

Every evening at dusk, Naya Ghat transforms into a spectacle of divine light and sound. Modeled after the renowned Ganga Aarti of Varanasi and Haridwar, Vedic priests in traditional silk robes perform synchronized brass lamp rituals accompanied by ringing gongs, conch shells, and devotional chanting:

  • Timings: Between 06:30 PM and 07:15 PM (varies seasonally with sunset).
  • Seating & Viewing: Devotees can sit on the paved stone steps or reserve private wooden boats moored directly facing the Aarti platform.
  • Deep Daan: Lighting clay diyas with marigold flowers and floating them onto the sacred waters creates an unforgettable river of golden lights.

Ram Ki Paidi Waterfront & Private Boating

Adjacent to Naya Ghat, Ram Ki Paidi features a series of interconnected stepped bathing ghats fed by continuous pumped freshwater. In the evening, laser lighting illuminates the ghat facades. Ayodhya DMC arranges private shaded motor boats and hand-rowed wooden bajras for families and corporate groups desiring uninterrupted views of the riverfront.
